The project will bring 52 mixed-income apartments to the mile-long stretch between the Elmwood and Flatbush CTfastrak stations in West Hartford. 41 units will have income eligibility requirements. The project is an extension of the newly opened 616 New Park Ave apartments that were opened for mixed-use in 2018. West Hartford has earmarked both New Park Ave apartment complexes as workforce housing due to their close proximity to public transportation.
The owner of the Puritan Furniture outlet building is also planning to replace the existing structure with a mixed-use building containing 134 apartments, retail, and a rooftop patio. Financing is still being secured, and the town has funding to do remediation on the site. Work could begin in the summer of 2022 and open in 2024.
