This project, spearheaded by Community Solutions, is the rehabilitation of an 80,000-square-foot former factory building into a food incubator and job training center in the Northend. The campus has 10 loft kitchens and commercial space available totaling over 30,000 square feet. It also has space available in two houses on the property.
Several tenants have already made the Swift Factory their home, and spaces are still available. It is expected that 150 workers will be employed when all the space is occupied.
The Hartford Public Library is currently in talks with Swift about opening a new library location to replace the Barbour Branch Library. With groundbreaking targeted for late 2022 or early 2023, this will more than triple the size of the existing branch. It will include classrooms, a computer lab and a light manufacturing simulation center, along with other library social service offerings. Construction is expected to take 18 months.
